National Advance Care Planning Week will run from 16-22 April to raise awareness of advance care planning across Australia. GCPHN has partnered with Gold Coast Health for the ‘Plan for Tomorrow, Live for Today’ event, which is an opportunity for you to discuss your personal needs with health professionals, get informed and to get in control of what you require for your healthcare wishes if you are unable to speak for yourself.
April is also serving up a number of other events including No Falls Month, World Immunisation Week (24-30 April) and another My Health Record session for general practice staff on 18 April. GPGC and GCPHN are hosting an interactive GP networking event at the Wine Barrel Restaurant on 26 April, and GPs and their partners are encouraged to attend. A full list of events for health professionals, that have been organised or supported by GCPHN is available on our HealthyGC website

Flu season is almost upon us, and we are again reminding the public of the importance of seeing your GP for your annual flu injection. To ensure you and your family are protected for as long as possible, the ideal time to receive your flu vaccine is late April/early May. The flu vaccine is recommended every year, for everyone from six months of age.
