This expression of interest is the first step in the process for organisations wishing to tender to become the Lead Agency of the new headspace centre in Upper Coomera. The EOIs will be assessed by GCPHN and headspace National (hN) to ensure that the organisations are able to deliver a headspace service in line with the requirements of the headspace Model. Last month, Lives Lived Well launched Lighthouse
, a new community based mental health treatment service on the Gold Coast, designed to provide long-term clinical support for young people with severe and/or complex mental health needs.
Lighthouse is funded by GCPHN, with the Australian Government Department of Health providing $2 million dollars over four years to fund the new service.
GCPHN determined that there was a gap in services for young people with severe and complex mental health needs who require long-term treatment in the community, which this service will address. This funding will help to make a huge difference in the lives of our young people.
I would like to encourage GPs, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary health and community support services, schools or the families of young people who may require assistance, to contact Lighthouse. To find out more about the service, based at Southport, visit www.liveslivedwell.org.au
or call 07 5699 8248.
Finally, November plays host to a number of important health awareness causes including Lung Cancer Awareness Month and World COPD Day (21 November). I encourage you to utilise the resources available on the HealthyGC website
, which are evidence-based and designed to assist you in managing your respiratory conditions.
