Our Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS), funded by the Department of Social Services. Our FMHSS covers the Gold Coast, providing individual support, group programs and community education, awareness and engagement activities.

Individual Support

you.nique provides free, individual outreach support for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years, with the involvement of their families. Our team of Child, Youth and Family Practitioners work in client homes, childcare centres, kindergartens, schools and in the community, helping children and families to identify their strengths and set goals to improve their emotional health and wellbeing, through improving their confidence, resilience, coping skills, self-esteem and self-regulation abilities.

Referrals can be made by any individual (e.g. a family member, educator, health provider, community worker or the child or young person themselves).

We can support any child or young person living in our service areas who are:

✔ Experiencing a diagnosed mental health concern;
✔ Showing early signs and symptoms of a mental health concern; or
✔ At risk of developing a mental health concern.

Group Programs

We run group programs in schools which focus on helping students to develop and improve their coping and problem-solving skills. We also run groups for parents, which provide the tools and information they need to help set limits and build positive and healthy relationships with their children. Please click here for more information about our group programs for children, young people and parents.

Community Education, Awareness and Engagement

Community mental health literacy is critical to improving the mental health of families.  We attend school events and expos to provide information about our service, help promote conversations about the importance of child and family mental health and wellbeing, and deliver a range of mental health education and awareness workshops and community engagement and development activities, including Mental Health First Aid. We also partner with other organisations to support shared clients and promote stronger, mentally healthy communities.
