Kiah Hostel for Indigenous Patients

Kiah Hostel is a new service for Indigenous patients. They understand the stress and worry that comes with dealing with illness and being away from your community and loved ones. That’s why they created Kiah Hostel!

Kiah is one of kind, run by Indigenous managers for Indigenous guests. You know when you visit Kiah, staff understand the importance of your culture, respect and the support you need.

Kiah is your home away from home, offering home cooked meals, free transport and comfortable accommodation. You can count on meeting friends during your stay and supportive community spirit.

At Kiah, they have their own courtesy vehicle to take you and your loved ones where you need to go. They can arrange to take you to and from the airport, the bus and/or train for FREE. They can also help you actually getting through the airport onto your plane to return home, to and from hospital visits and appointments, as well as Centrelink.

They know finances can be tight, so at Kiah they offer a full bed and breakfast service for the Patient Transport Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) payment, offering you both great value for money and convenience.

Every night they serve delicious home cooked meals in a family setting for a nominal fee of $5 per person.

With eight bedrooms available, all have two single beds located upstairs. During peak periods of high occupancy, guests may need to share a room. Unfortunately Kiah does not have disable-access rooms available at this stage. The accommodation is new, clean and very comfortable.

Being the only culturally appropriate facility of its kind in Brisbane, means you can count on Kiah as your number one choice when you and your loved ones come to Brisbane for treatment.

Kiah managers Murray and Teena Vogt will make you welcome when you come to stay at Kiah. Kiah Hostel organises everything from accommodation to arranging your transport to and from the hospital.

They are a friendly face you can rely on and will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable and homely.
