Indigenous Psychological Services (IPS)

Indigenous Psychological Services (IPS) aims to set a benchmark for the delivery of culturally competent mental health services for Aboriginal (Australian) people. This will be achieved through the continued development and delivery of evidence based best practice in our programs, services and products.

Indigenous Psychological Services (IPS) is a private company founded in 1998 by Dr. Tracy Westerman of the Nyamal people of the North West of Western Australia. Dr Westerman is a recognised leader in the Aboriginal mental health field having won numerous awards and recognition for her contribution to the Aboriginal mental health field. She developed IPS to address the paucity of specialist mental health services for Aboriginal people, despite the obvious need for these. IPS maintains a social justice focus through its annual provision of FREE essential services into identified Aboriginal communities in need despite an absence of funding for any of its services.

It is these principles that have resulted in IPS being a firmly established leader in the provision of innovative, culturally specific Aboriginal mental health services. IPS has THREE main areas of service delivery including:
  • Aboriginal Mental Health Training
  • Cultural Competency Intervention Programs
  • Aboriginal Mental Health and Suicide Intervention Programs
Our Product range complements these services and includes:
  • Psychological Tests
  • Workforce Development Products
