Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth

Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth (GCPHY) is an incorporated not-for-profit community organisation to provide accommodation and support for homeless young people in the Gold Coast Local Government area.

Since GCPHY was formed in 1984, it has provided a specialist homelessness service with funding from the Queensland Government Department of Housing and Public Works.

GCPHY provides the following services:

  • short-term supported accommodation
  • medium-term supported accommodation
  • mobile support service
  • referral to other agencies
  • crisis support
  • advocacy
The project aims to:
  • reduce the cycle of homelessness
  • provide a service which is quality assured
  • offer a diversity of services with a holistic view to optimise client outcomes
  • be adequately resourced to facilitate optimisation of client outcomes
  • empower young people to lead safe and healthy lifestyles by making informed decisions
The project accommodates and supports young people who are:
  • in crisis and in need of immediate accommodation
  • disadvantaged or at risk and in need of transitional (medium term) accommodation
  • the Mobile Support service offers a range of services for young people to secure and sustain stable accommodation
